The application for our permit states that Quilting on the Line was formed in January 1991. the first meetings were informal and were held at the Needle and Quill in Delta, PA. Later meetings were held at the Slate Ridge Church, Delta Senior Center and the Salem United Methodist Church in Delta, PA. During 2009, the guild voted to move our meetings to our current meeting place at the Fawn United Methodist Church.
Quilting on the Line hosts a Quilt Show every other year in the Fall. We have held this weekend long affair at the Fawn Grove Recreation Building for the past several years. Guests can expect to view our members quilts on display, visit our Silent Auction and Craft tables and purchase tickets for the Raffle Quilt which is made by our members. There are also a number of vendors and refreshments are available. Our next show will be held in November 2013.
Quilting on the Line will have its next Bingo in the Fall of 2012. The prizes for the game winners will be quilted items donated by our guild members. This year's event will be held at the Citizens Vol. Fire Dept. in Fawn Grove, PA. Details will be updated as soon as they are available.
Quilting on the Line strives to help our community in many different outreach projects. We have a Comfort for Kids program and our members make quilts for children at the Lehman Center of York, PA and the Harford County Advocacy Center in Bel Air, MD. The guild also accepts donations of non-perishable food products and monies for the Mason Dixon Food Bank.
The Quilts of Valor program was initiated in our guild in the Spring of 2009. Our dedicated ladies meet the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Delta Senior Center in Delta, PA from 6-9 PM. Here we gather and sew quilts for our war wounded troops. These quilts are delivered to the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. All are welcome to join us!
Quilting on the Line is a casual group of very friendly quilters. Our programs may include a workshop, lecture by a guest speaker or a sit and sew. July and November meetings are scheduled for "pot luck" dinners.
We have a number of ongoing projects that members are invited to participate in. This year our projects include the 2012 Challenge, Round Robin, Block Exchange and Mystery Quilt. These projects are worked on at home and are alot of fun.
Members are awarded quilt pins for their completed projects. We have a great show and tell because we have some very talented ladies in our guild.
